Sitges, located 35 km south of Barcelona, has some of the best beaches in Spain. In fact, not only is a day on Sitges beach fantastic but spending time in the town itself is something special. Sitges was once a tiny fishing town and the port town known for the exportation of wine. Over time, being influenced by the presence of artists, liberals, and poets, Sitges has developed a reputation for its Bohemian charm. This Bohemian charm, coupled with its stunning coastline of beaches, is why holidaymakers and day trippers love Sitges.

Why Sitges is one of the best beach towns in Spain.

There’s plenty of Mediterranean appeal in Sitges. Whitewash buildings, narrow streets, and loads of local culture waiting to be soaked up. Notably, 9 beaches surrounding Sitges were awarded a blue flag by the European Union in 2023 for the cleanliness of the water.

Sitges is a town of diversity, and the beaches also play their part. There is an extensive choice of beaches; family, urban, dog-friendly, cove-style, and Sitges gay beaches. Take your pick. Of course, you’re welcome to sun your bones on any beach, as are no fixed rules. Some beaches, however, may suit you better than others.

And so, as you can imagine, it is easy to see why Sitges was ranked in the ‘Top 6 best beach towns in Catalonia’ by Culture Trip.

Utopia Villas has some beautiful villas on the seafront – check out all our villas where you can easily walk to the beach.

Where is the best beach in Sitges?

It depends on your preferences because this beach town has everything from quiet and relaxed to lively beaches, family beaches, and naturist and gay-friendly beaches. There are 17 Sitges beaches, and they are all beautiful in their own way.

Utopia Villas has prepared this complete guide to help you choose the best Sitges beach for you.

This Sitges beach is to the east of the church (10 minutes on foot) and the interesting Sant Sebastiàn cemetery behind it. It has a total length of 250 m, and the best thing is that it is naturally divided into three sections. It is also a naturist beach but not mandatory. When you arrive, you will understand why it is a popular beach for everyone.

The environment is primarily natural, and the view is breathtaking.

Access to La Caleta restaurant makes it an excellent beach for the whole day.

With the Club Nautico located on the beach, you can hire paddle boards from them or get a sailing class. One point to consider when visiting this Sitges Beach is that no sunbeds are available, although there are showers and a beach bar. It also has a lifeguard in the summer months.

A new chiringuito here called Acqua Beach which belongs to the Sunway Hotel at the end of the Paseo, has several options for tapas and snacks and their menu is a good alternative less formal and easier on the wallet than the more expensive BESO beach. They do several activities here, including yoga or pilates during the week and Zumba from 10.00am on Sundays.

Terramar Beach is a 15-minute walk from the town, but you can take the train if the children want to avoid walking.

It has become a little rockier over the year, but there are sunbeds, and you can rent SUP boards and pedal boats from here as well as Anquines Beach, which is often confused with each other and area side by side

16. Les Anquines Beach (family)

Chiringuito at Terramar Beach Sitges

This beach is at the end of the promenade, after Terramar Beach. It is ideal for families and, above all, for small children since there is a breakwater that surrounds the area. Beso Beach Bar sister to Beso Beach in ibiza & Formentera offers a delicious menu (not cheap), many DJs and the most comfortable loungers in all of Sitges. You will find it behind the rocks of the old l’Atlàntida nightclub, where you can park and walk. This Sitges beach is mainly stone. Therefore, it is not recommended for small children.
