El Paseo Maritimo de Sitges – The Paseo of Sitges
Aahhh the paseo…. It’s impossible to consider life in Sitges without the Paseo… it’s where you go… it’s what you do.. where the kilos get shed, kids cycle their bikes, roller bladers whizz by showoing off their techniques, family matters are discussed and even business gets negotiated. The paseo, the prom of Sitges, the exquisite seafront; stretching from the Hotel Playa Golf to the Church of La Fragata. It is the default recreational activity after lazy Sunday lunches and Sitges simply wouldn’t be the same without it.
I am pretty sure that every single person that visits Sitges spends time on the Paseo… from here you can view the fabulous mansions of the ‘Indianos’; those who went to South America and came home with gold in great store or just take in the beautiful people who stride with confidence up and down.
Why go to the Paseo of Sitges?
The paseo of Sitges, with the back drop of Sitges and the salt air of the Mediterranea the paseo is wonderful at sunrise, midday sun and sunset.
2.5 kilmetres of Meaditerranea sea and beautiful beaches with its beach bars and balmy sunsets on one side and either residential manions, bars and restuarants on the other. Forget Sitges cenre, the paseo is the real epicentre of Sitges which defines both the normalcy of residing here and the main attraction for people visiting.
When folk come to Sitges they will ask you what is there to do? And we will say restuarants, tapas, cocktail bars and the port. We will say check out the Museums and the shopping in the quirky back streets. We will say check out the photographic exhibitions, the art exhibiton and have coffee at an outdoor café but what we sometimes forget to mention is ‘the paseo; which in reality is the back bone of this thriving, beautiful seaside town.
