The shoulder seasons offer many attractions to those who visit Sitges in Spring and Autumn. While there are differences, these seasons provide the same attractions in many ways. Both the awakening after winter and the slowing down after summer are welcomed by locals and visitors alike.
Start With Perfect Weather
Both autumn and spring in Sitges have mild, inviting climates. After the summer sun takes its bow, autumn still has pleasantly warm days, with average temperatures between 18°C and 25 °C. The sea is still warm enough for swimming well into October or November, and the less crowded beaches give you space to stretch out and enjoy the sunny days.
Spring has beautiful still days, with temperatures gradually rising from a relaxed but comfortable 18°C to a more balmy 23°C. Sea temperatures rise quickly, and from April onwards, more and more people are in the water.
Evenings are cooler, but a light sweater or jacket is all you’ll need after sunset for most evenings.
Sitges Is Open Without The Queues
From Easter (Semana Santa) until October, everything you want is open in Sitges, Barcelona and beyond. The famous Chirriguitos (beach bars) in Sitges, as well as most restaurants and attractions, are all open.Â
Some attractions close in winter, and some restaurants have an annual shutdown to recharge and renovate. In summer, getting a table at your favorite restaurant or finding a seat at your favorite bar can be challenging, and buying tickets and navigating queues for attractions can be daunting. You’ll have none of these problems in Spring and Autumn.
And, as Sitges has a large year-round resident population, there is still enough buzz to create a great atmosphere.
Our favorite cultural highlights without the queues?
The Cau Ferrat and Maricel Museums are just the beginning in Sitges. Venture a little further to discover the Palau de Maricel, with its stunning views of the sea and an exquisite collection of centuries-old art.

Our tip: Visit during the early morning to enjoy the tranquility of its courtyards and balconies overlooking the Mediterranean.
Spring Highlights
Spring in Sitges is synonymous with rejuvenation and cultural awakening. The Easter Holy Week (Semana Santa) stands out, featuring beautiful processions that are both a visual and emotional spectacle. It’s a profound communal experience, blending religious solemnity with the warmth of communal gatherings.
Soon after, the International Patchwork Festival unfolds, turning the town into a kaleidoscope of color and creativity. This unique event attracts artists and enthusiasts from across the globe, showcasing stunning quilts in exhibitions, markets, and workshops.
One of our favorite days is the Corpus Christi Festival. This event brings the town’s streets to life with a carpet of flowers, a testament to the community’s creativity and dedication to beauty. Everyone from schools to bars has a section of Sitges Street to create a magical mosaic out of fresh-cut flowers—a fantastic community effort.
Autumn Treasures
Autumn also has a fantastic selection of cultural festivities, beginning with the renowned Sitges International Film Festival in October. This festival is a haven for film fans, celebrating the great and the innovative, with an emphasis on horror and fantasy genres.
The town buzzes with excitement, hosting international stars and budding filmmakers alike. Keep an eye out for the Zombi walk when hundreds put on horrifying masks and makeup and walk the streets of Sitges.
Then comes the Festa Major de Santa Tecla, a fantastic event that blew our minds when we first experienced the controlled chaos! It encapsulates the town’s spirit with fireworks, human towers, and traditional dances, offering a more intimate glimpse into the Catalan culture.
The season is also marked by the Sitges Wine Harvest Festival, celebrating the local wine-making tradition with tastings, grape stomps, and festivities that appeal to oenophiles and families alike.
Outdoor Adventures in the Autumn and Spring
The shoulder seasons offer the perfect weather for exploring the Garraf Natural Park surrounding Sitges. Hiking and biking trails abound, offering breathtaking views of the Mediterranean and the surrounding landscapes.
Hire an e-bike, play a round of golf on the championship Terramar golf course, or head out onto the tracks and trails with a picnic lunch.
The cooler temperatures of autumn and the mild warmth of spring make these outdoor activities so enjoyable. They allow for full-day excursions without the tiring summer heat.

Food, Glorious Food
Autumn and spring are exceptional seasons to dive into the local culinary scene of Sitges. The moderate climate makes it perfect for enjoying meals al fresco, from dining in hidden courtyards to beachfront restaurants offering fresh, seasonal produce.
Autumn harvests introduce a bounty of local ingredients, such as mushrooms, which become the stars of seasonal dishes. Take a look at our foraging guide for a great way to see the countryside while filling your plates.
Spring is such a fun time to visit local markets and restaurants. New-season produce appears — look out for everything from strawberries to artichokes and cherries to asparagus. We love local chefs introducing seasonal produce into their menus in many Sitges restaurants.
