Pet Friendly Villa La Hacienda at night

La Hacienda is a perfectly located pet-friendly villa, just one block from the beach in Sitges. It has a capacity for up to 16 guests with a flat lawn and a private pool.  There is also a separate annex for 6 guests; a fantastic bonus for the dog-loving amongst you. Moreover, it is situated in the stunning Terramar area of Sitges with access to a large park, the promenade, and coastal walks to Vilanova. An absolute find for anyone but especially those who love to travel with their furry friends.

There is a special enclosed area in the garden too for dogs in case you need to keep them away from your guests while you stay in the villa.

Villa Lola

The Backyard at Villa Lola

This majestic villa in Sitges boasts not one, but two enormous flat lawns; could you ask for more from a pet-friendly villa? The answer is yes as Villa Lola sleeps up to 14 people, has a private pool, and is situated right on the seafront of Sitges.  There is direct access to the beach, promenade, shops, and restaurants of the town. What could be better than waking up and walking with your dog along the promenade?  Maybe stop for a spot of breakfast – al fresco – and bask in the morning sunshine of one of the many pet-friendly cafes.  Then meander back to your perfectly located villa.

Walks

If you like walking, then this location couldn’t be better for you. Covering a huge 12,376 hectares, The Garraf Park offers hikers a multitude of options covering all abilities and styles. Whether you are looking for a relaxed stroll with your family culminating in a country lunch, or a more extreme hike searching for abandoned villages, Buddhist Temples, or black caves, Garraf Massif has is all. And best of all, dogs are very welcome, so don’t forget to bring your best friend along too!

The Sakya Tashi Ling Monastery

This Buddhist Monastery was established in 1996 and is based in an old Indio Palatial home.  It was built in the 1900s. It is a beautiful and grand cream-colored building complete with a distinctive square tower and exquisite archway through which you enter. Guided tours are offered in English every Saturday at 3:30 pm with some exceptions.  Check their website for further details and to book.

Additionally, there is a traditional Buddhist Stupa for meditation.  Walking around the circular garden and spinning each tin can is very therapeutic (and fun for the Kids). There is also a small shop selling incense, wind-chimes, and other such delights, as well as a cafe with food and drinks. Finally, there are beautiful short and longer walks around the Monastery.  Perhaps you can find the old magical ruins in the forest.  They are closer than you might think.

You can walk here directly from Sitges in a loop or alternatively, hop on the train (dogs are welcome too) and leave from Garraf Station following the link below. This beautiful loop will bring you right back to Sitges and takes approximately 6 hours.

Jafre – An Abandoned Village

This is a sight not to be missed for those who love to walk and like ghost stories. Nestled in the Garraf relatively close to the Monastery you can find this hidden gem. Considered by many to be a haunted abandoned village due to the old black legend: A rich Austrian family moves to Jafra with their three children who suffer from ill-health and are subsequently kept hidden. Upon the birth of their fourth child, a daughter, the mother dies and strange things begin to occur. Each child dies one by one until the fourth child runs away (legend depicts she was running from her father) and falls into the well.

The village itself was abandoned 60 years ago and much is overgrown now. However, you can still find the farmhouse and outbuildings, and of course, the famous haunted well.

La Cova Negra and Climbing

La Cova Negra, or the Black Cave, is a spectacular find.  It is one that you can actually go some of the ways into. Bring a torch and, if you have children, your imagination.  This is definitely an excellent base for adventure stories and a picnic stop. Conveniently positioned on the way out of Sant Pere de Ribes towards Jafra, you will find the walk here relatively flat and easy-going. If you go beyond the cave, however, the walk gets a little more hilly and rougher underfoot.

Just before you leave the last of the houses behind and head towards La Cova Negra, you will find an excellent spot for sport climbing: Les Penyes de Can Mercer (Roques d’en Mercer). Both locals and visitors alike stop here (some with their dogs) to climb some of the 25-50 routes. Here is the link to the route on wikiloc.

The Coastal Route

If all of the above sounds just a little too adventurous to you and your canine, then perhaps take the beautiful scenic coastal route.  You can walk directly from your pet-friendly villa in Sitges to Vilanova I La Geltrú. Along the way marvel at the local flora and fauna with the dense shrubland underfoot.  Kermes oak and majestic trees flank you on one side, and the sparkling pristine Mediterranean Sea and sandy coves to the other. Just a short 2-3 hour walk from one town to the next, end your walk with a light tapas lunch and beer.  Afterward, head back to Sitges on the train.

Wherever you decide to take your dogs whilst you holiday at a Villa in Sitges, you will never be short of ideas. With dog beaches in Cubelles, dog-friendly restaurants in Sitges and surrounding areas, and access to locations via the train possible, you can have the best holiday with your pooch! Just switch on Wikiloc to find your favorite route and switch off worrying!
